Spotify Adds Native Support for Wear OS Devices

Spotify Adds Native Support for Wear OS Devices

You can now control your music through your (smart)watch

After adding Spotify integration to Google MapsĀ and Google’s native clock app, the two tech companies strengthen their partnership further by offering native Spotify support for all Wear OS devices.

While there was a native Spotify app for Android Wear, the Wear OS version comes with a better interface.Ā Aside from the usual music controls, the native app lets you add songs to your playlists, browse through different playlists and songs within the app.

In addition to the native app, you get Spotify Connectā€”which lets you control speakers or change the playback source through your Wear OS device. Since most Wear OS devices have at least 4GB internal storage and Bluetooth, you can, in theory, save songs on your Wear OS device and not depend on your smartphone. However, this feature is currently available only for Samsung’s wearables as of the moment.

Spotify for Wear OS will roll out by sometime week.
