Waze Gets Voice Recognition, Motorcycle Support

New features!

Waze has updated and added a bunch of new features on their turn-by-turn navigation app for Android and iOS today. Firstly, a new motorcycle mode that gives motorcycle riders better recommendations on routes to take based on data pulled from other cyclists. The idea is that motorcycle riders usually take faster, less conventional routes because of their superior mobility, routes that bigger vehicles can’t take. As a result of the new modes, Waze says it has gotten better at estimating arrival times for bikes.

Another new feature is hands-free “OK Waze” voice commands that’s currently only available in the US, UK and Canada. It basically gives you access to the Waze app via your voice, allowing you to change and set your destination via voice without having to take your hands off of the steering wheel. Waze also added carpool lanes to their routing system, and again is only available in the US (22 US States will be getting it) and Canada (Toronto, Vancaouver and Montreal).
