Another internet relic bites the dust
Remember those pre-Reddit days where we all depended on Yahoo Groups to talk and share anything and everything about our interests? Well, Yahoo is streamlining its services and announced that it is deleting ALL Yahoo Groups content by December 14. These include:
- Files
- Polls
- Links
- Photos
- Folders
- Calendar
- Database
- Attachments
- Conversations
- Email Updates
- Message Digest
- Message History
While Yahoo Groups will remain to exist, all public groups will remain private and restricted and that you will need to request an invite to join one. Yahoo Groups’ functionality will be limited, so being able to join one does not really matter at this point.
Users have until October 28 to upload any content via Yahoo Groups, and sharing info with members will be done via email moving forward. If you are really, really sentimental about your Yahoo Groups content, you can either download them directly or download the data via the Privacy Dashboard.
