2021 Nissan Navara: A Subtle Brute

Nissan’s venerable Navarra is finally getting an update this year, and just in time too – the Nissan Navara hasn’t seen a significant update since 2015. Weeks after the launch of the new Isuzu D-Max and Ford Ranger FX4, Nissan Philippines has unveiled the 2021 Nissan Navara.

If you look at it from afar, it doesn’t seem like much has changed. Up-close,  however, is a different story. It’s stuffed with all the essential updates to make it a bad-ass truck. The most noticeable is the new interlock grille design acquired from its bigger brother—the Nissan Titan. It’s also hard not to notice the new quad-LED projector headlights at the front and the new C-Shaped taillights at the back. Also obvious is the new 17” gloss black alloy wheels, new step-integrated rear bumper, and new bed with their so-called “utili-track” system to better secure whatever the load is.

Since it’s not an all-new model, a lot has remained from the outgoing model. For the interior, you only get a new steering wheel design, a better information screen in the instrument cluster, and a new 8-inch infotainment touchscreen. There are more exterior updates for the top variant, Pro-4X, which comes with blacked-out components, orange accents, and a roof rack. It also has the Nissan Intelligent Mobility features like intelligent forward collision warning, emergency braking, around view monitor, and a new off-road monitor that can detect nearby obstacles.

Nissan has updated many parts under the hood as well. The new model comes equipped with a better steering rack, a strengthened rear axle, and a better payload capacity. This means that the truck now handles better and is more robust for hauling needs. As for passenger comfort, the new model is certainly at the top of its game. All the glass has noise-reducing properties, rear seats are stuffed with comfortable springs, and front-seats have the so-called “zero gravity design” for maximum comfort. All that will give you a comfortable journey no matter how far, according to Nissan.

The new model remains the same in terms of performance. The top variant is powered by the same old engine producing 187 hp and 450 Nm torque. The engine needs no updating because the new Nissan Navara is still the most powerful pick-up truck in the market right now.
