DITO Subscribers to Receive Calls and Texts to Other Networks Soon

As DITO kicks off its commercial operation with a coverage that spans select areas in Visayas and Mindanao, along with a compelling welcome offer that includes unlimited data, the new telco is still working on expanding its coverage.

In its latest expansion efforts, DITO disclosed in its FAQ that they are currently working on interconnectivity with other networks. As mentioned in its FAQ, DITO said that they are expected to let their subscribers receive calls and texts from other networks like Globe and Smart by later this month or April. That means current subscribers will soon be able to communicate with their loved ones using a different telco provider.

While DITO is still working on network interconnectivity—along with expanding its list of compatible phones—it assures that its subscribers can take advantage of its unlimited data offers and use messaging services like Facebook Messenger, Viber, and WhatsApp to communicate with their loved ones.

To recall, the effort to make it possible to receive calls and texts from other networks is part of the interconnection deal DITO has signed with PLDT and Globe. With the interconnection agreement, this should benefit all parties as it will allow them to communicate with one another regardless of their telco provider.

It is important for us that we establish this interconnection capability between PLDT-Smart and the customers of DITO as mandated by the NTC, and principally to make sure that our customers are able to communicate,” PLDT CRO and Smart President and CEO Al Panlilio said after signing the interconnection deal

DITO still has a long road to traverse as far as coverage is concerned. As of this writing, DITO’s coverage includes select areas in Cebu and Davao, and is expected to expand its coverage to include Luzon and Metro Manila in the coming months.
