Subaru Reveals Key Specs of the 2022 BRZ in the Philippines

Now that the official price and release date have been announced, the only thing left is the specifications. Fortunately, for those who have been waiting, the key specs of the 2022 Subaru BRZ for the Philippine market are here and they are more impressive than variants in Japan and North America.

Subaru Philippines Reveals Key Specs of 2022 BRZ

Sources from Motor Image Pilipinas—the official distributor of Subaru in the Philippines—have revealed the specs of the all-new BRZ. Fans of the nameplate would be glad to know that the Philippine-spec BRZ has more power than its counterparts in Japan and the United States. 

To be exact, local variants of the BRZ will have  237 PS at 7,000 rpm, while the models in North America only have 231 PS and models in Japan have only 235 PS. This increase in power is due to the higher compression ratio. However, the torque figure is the same for all regions, 250 Nm @ 3,700 rpm. The car can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds with the manual variant and 6.8 seconds with the automatic variant.

Other key numbers for the all-new BRZ are as follows:

  • Top Speed: 226 km/h (MT), 216 km/h (AT)
  • Matte dark gray metallic 18-in wheels w/ 215/50R18 tires
  • Leather & Ultrasuede front sport seats
  • Five selectable driving modes (Normal, Snow, Sport, Track, and VDC Off)
  • 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

  • Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (blind spot indicators with rear cross-traffic alert)
  • Subaru EyeSight Version 3.0 driver-assist system (for AT variant only)

Subaru also explained the key differences between the all-new BRZ and the GR86, the former being more focused on “grip” while the latter on “drift”. Here’s how they differ in terms of chassis:

  • Curb Weight: Subaru BRZ is up to 6.8 kilograms heavier than the Toyota GR86
  • Front Spring Rate: 30 Nm/mm (vs 28 Nm/mm)
  • Rear Spring Rate: 35 Nm/mm (vs 39 Nm/mm)
  • Front Stabilizer Bar: 18.3 mm, hallow-type (vs 18 mm, solid-type)
  • Rear Stabilizer Bar: 14 mm, body-mounted (vs 15 mm, sub-frame-mounted)
  • Front Suspension Knuckle: Aluminum (vs cast Iron)
  • Rear Suspension Bushings: Rear Trailing Arm (vs carry over)

2022 Subaru BRZ Price Philippines

To recap, the all-new 2022 Subaru BRZ will be available in our local market starting April next year. The BRZ 6-speed MT will retail for Php 2,399,000, while the BRZ 6-speed AT will go for Php 2,499,000.
