Unbox Picks: Our Top Upper Midrange Phones for 2024

Unbox Picks: Our Top Upper Midrange Phones for 2024

2024 is an interesting year for midrange phones, as brands have stepped up significantly in bringing several flagship features at a lower price point. Whether with performance, cameras, or software, midrange phones have become excellent options, especially for those who don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a flagship. The Unbox team agreed that there are many great midrange picks for 2024, and we’ve divided this segment into two–this one focusing more on the upper segment with models costing between Php 20,000 to Php 35,000.

Unbox Picks for Top Upper Midrange Phones (2024)

  • OPPO Reno12
  • vivo V40
  • realme 13 Pro+
  • HONOR 200 Pro
  • POCO F6 Pro

OPPO Reno12

Next to Samsung, OPPO has made great strides with its AI features, and the Reno12 is proof that midrange phones can enjoy these features as well. Aside from its excellent set of software features, its use of a Dimensity 7300 processor makes the Reno12 both power efficient and a decent performer especially if you are into gaming. You get fast UFS 3.1 storage with the Reno12, along with an LYT600 sensor for the main camera that’s complemented by OPPO’s improved image post-processing algorithm.

vivo V40

Aside from being vivo’s most affordable phone to have ZEISS co-engineering, the V40 is among our favorite picks as it has one of the best battery life we’ve seen on a midrange phone–thanks to a combination of a power-efficient Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor and a beefy 5500mAh battery–all housed inside a phone that’s only 7.6mm thick. Speaking of ZEISS, the V40 has three solid 50-megapixel cameras–all capable of shooting 4K video–and an IP68/69 rating for peace of mind while using it under the rain.

realme 13 Pro+

One of our frustrations with most midrange phones is their inclusion of filler cameras, and the realme 13 Pro+ bucked that trend with its 50-megapixel LYT600 periscope camera that has 3x optical zoom. We’re happy to see a periscope camera on a midrange phone, and the realme 13 Pro+ proved its worth after we’ve used it for several concerts. The 50-megapixel LYT701 main camera is also a solid performer, and the slight bump in its battery capacity makes it more battery efficient than its predecessor.

HONOR 200 Pro

HONOR finally brought over the Pro version of its numbered series to the Philippines, and the 200 Pro is a solid all-rounder midrange phone that has almost all of the features you’d expect on a flagship. You get the same main camera used on the Magic6 Pro, a 2.5x telephoto camera, wireless charging, and a powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip–all for only Php 30,000. It’s simply insane that HONOR managed to pack that many flagship features without making it too expensive.

POCO F6 Pro

POCO’s F series are heavy hitters for those who prioritize performance, and what made the F6 Pro insane is that its top-end 16GB/1TB configuration has an official SRP of under Php 35,000, making it the most affordable phone you can get with 1TB of storage. You also get a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a WQHD+ 120hz flat AMOLED display, 120w charging, a main camera that has flagship-like performance, and an aluminum frame to make it truly premium.

Stay tuned to the site as we reveal our top upper midrange pick for 2024 in the coming days.
