With the rise of midrange phones boasting good IP ratings and improved durability, vivo stands out with the V50 as it is a rare offering that has co-engineering with ZEISS to make it a great, all-around shooter in most weather conditions. That includes using the V50 in hot, humid weather and underwater while utilizing ZEISS’ prowess in imaging.

When it comes to imaging, the V50 carries over the ZEISS Multifocal portrait mode of its predecessor, where it maximizes the 50-megapixel main camera to simulate the 35mm and 50mm focal lengths.
Both 35mm and 50mm focal lengths are the most used ones in photography, and the ZEISS co-engineering helps out with that to give you photos that are taken from a high-end camera.
To complement the image processing, vivo also improved its Aura Light system, which we first tried on the V27. Aside from being bigger and having an adjustable color temperature, the V50’s Aura Light is smarter too: it can detect the right colors of the subject regardless of lighting conditions, and produce lighting to keep the subject as color accurate as possible.
Beyond its main camera, the V50 shines for its ultrawide camera, which uses a 50-megapixel sensor, has a 15mm focal length equivalent, and autofocus–on top of also being co-engineered by ZEISS. With the competition using the usual 8-megapixel sensor for their ultrawide cameras, the V50’s 50-megapixel ultrawide gives you more detail and lets you capture more detailed shots with a wider perspective.
With the camera features the V50 has to offer, vivo’s midrange offering can also be used underwater thanks to its IP68 and 69 rating, allowing you to use the V50 at up to 1.5m of freshwater for 30 mins. That’s enough for a few selfies and a quick photoshoot under the pool.
All of the V50’s stellar camera performance is made possible by its use of a tried-and-tested Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor that’s well-rounded for regular use, and especially with content creation. The V50 can also be used heavily for 4K video recording across all three cameras–and battery life is not an issue thanks to its 6000mAh BlueVolt battery that’s managed well by FunTouch’s stellar power management.
The vivo V50 starts at Php 26,999 for the 8GB/256GB variant. You can buy it at vivo physical stores nationwide or online via the vivo e-store, Shopee, and Lazada.
