Great Offerings from Huawei, ASUS, and Sony
There are still several local product launches that we’ve been waiting to happen in the local gadget scene. On the Android tablet space there are 3 notable devices that we’ve been keenly monitoring since they were announced. Two of them we first saw at the exhibition floor of the Mobile World Congress while the other one was just recently revealed at Computex in Taiwan. All three are solid picks and if you’re in the market for an Android tablet we highly recommend you guys watch out for any of these.
Huawei MediaPad X2
Huawei has made giant leaps forward when it comes to their hardware design capabilities. It all started with their Ascend series and now we’re starting to see it with their tablets. The Huawei MediaPad X2 is simply a gorgeous device. The stunning metal build, impressive internals, and beautiful display make it a top contender especially if they’re able to price it correctly.

We’re expecting to see this bad boy land on our shores in July or August. Click here to read our initial impressions of the Huawei MediaPad X2.
ASUS ZenPad
Next up we have the recently unveiled ASUS ZenPad. Coming off their massive success with the Zenfone series, ASUS has started to capitalise on the “Zen” branding by extending it to their tablets. The new ZenPad family will have different models and sizes (7.0, 8.0, and 10.1). The higher end models will sport the Intel Atom Z3580 processor and 4GB RAM (which is a first for tablets we’re told). The ZenPad 8.0 also takes a page out of Samsung’s playbook as their using an embossed leather pattern for the back plate.
No word yet on the pricing but we’re hoping to see the ZenPad in the Philippines in August or September (hopefully earlier).
Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet
And last, but definitely not the least, we have the heavy hitting Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet. This bad boy has monstrous internals, a ridiculously stunning 10.1-inch QHD IPS Display, and has full connectivity. True to the Xperia line, this one is water resistant. Lastly uou can also get a bluetooth keyboard case for it. If you want top of the line in Android tablets, this is it.
Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet specs
- 64-bit 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor
- 3GB of RAM
- 10.1-inch QHD IPS display, 2560 x 1600 resolution

Our only concern is that this will probably be priced crazily here in the Philippines. Hopefully Sony Mobile PH makes this more competitive with the other premium tablet offerings so that more Filipino techies can actually afford to buy it, hehe.
And there you have it! How about you guys? Do you have any Android tablet that you’re eagerly waiting for that’s not part of this trio? Let us know in the comments section below so we can also keep tabs on ’em. 🙂
