Acer Banks on AI with its 2024 Line of Intel Laptops

AI, specifically the Generative variety, is the buzzword that’s often mentioned in several product launches at CES 2024, and Acer is no exception with its 2024 line of Intel laptops that consists of the Aspire Vero 16, Swift X 14, and Swift Go in both 14-inch and 16-inch models.

Common across these four laptops that were brought to the Philippines as part of Acer’s Mini-CES 2024 showcase is that they use Intel’s new Core Ultra processors, which boast a dedicated NPU for AI tasks. While we have yet to see the performance improvements of these new processors, Acer Philippines showed to us some applications of these new Generative AI tricks.

These include creating personalized travel postcards based on the prompts you give to the AI language model, smart audio filtering of background noise for calls, and AI auto framing to ensure that your eyes are looking in the camera all the time. All of Acer’s 2024 laptops come with Windows 11, which also means they have Copilot integrated into their system.

Moving on to the laptops, the Aspire Vero 16 will replace the Vero 15 that launched back in 2021. While it has essentially the same footprint, Acer managed to increase the screen size of its Aspire Vero laptop while making it slimmer at the same time–all while maintaining a body that’s made from more than 60% post-consumer recycled material. Configuration options for the Aspire Vero 16 include up to a Core Ultra 7 processor, up to 16GB RAM and 2TB SSD (through two slots), and an option for either a WUXGA or a higher-resolution WQXGA resolution for the display.

Content creators who need added processing muscle can opt for the Swift X 14, which can be configured with up to an RTX 4070 discrete GPU for all those demanding multimedia tasks. You also get options for up to a Core Ultra 7 processor and up to 32GB RAM, and its display is a 2.8k OLED panel with all the necessary certifications to make it as color accurate as possible.

Wrapping up Acer’s 2024 lineup of AI-powered laptops are the Swift Go series, which is available in both 14-inch and 16-models. The 14-inch version has a nice touch on the trackpad, where the Swift branding lights up when powered on, while the Swift 16 has a trackpad for number-crunching tasks. Both models come with 16:10 OLED displays (2.8K resolution for the 14-inch model, and 3.2K for the 16-inch model) and WiFi 7 connectivity, and can be configured with up to a Core Ultra 9 processor.

Acer Philippines has yet to reveal official pricing and availability for these laptops, so expect to know which variants are arriving in the country in the coming months.
