Built Like a Tank? iPhone 13 Pro Max Survives Durability Test

While it is pretty much a given that the iPhone 13 Pro Max has one of the best cameras in a smartphone right now, it seems that Apple’s latest premium flagship is built like a tank–at least based on the durability test that JerryRigEverything recently did on his YouTube video.

With the iPhone having a stellar reputation for passing JerryRig’s tests with flying colors, he commends that the ceramic shield does wonders: aside from having a slightly better scratch resistance compared to the glass used on most Android phones, the ceramic shield protected the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s gorgeous OLED display from burning despite being exposed to a lighter for over the minute.

Like its predecessor, the iPhone 13 still has a stainless steel frame (a very shiny one at that) that is harder than the aluminum used on most Android phones. JerryRig prove this, as trying to scratch the frame with a cutter proved to be a challenge.

If there was one thing JerryRig has to critique on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, it has to be the glass used on the camera lenses. While Apple claims that they used sapphire on the camera lens glass, JerryRig’s tests prove otherwise. Armed with his tools on board, he pointed out that they are far from being actual sapphire.

Going to the pinnacle of the durability test, the iPhone 13 Pro Max barely creaked and practically did not bend even if JerryRig forcefully tried to bend it with his two hands. This is proof that even if Apple commands a very high price tag on its iPhones, they are meant to take a beating and should last long–not just with software updates, but also with the phone as a whole.
