Cherry Mobile Confirms They’re Making Android Oreo (Go Edition) Phones

You’ll have to wait a little bit though

Cherry Mobile’s One G1 was one of the best budget phones of 2015, thanks in part to its lack of bloatware and multiple updates to Android because of Android One. We were a little bummed when we realized it was the last of the Android One phone to be released by the company, though recent news has made us hopeful of a device that would be similar to the One G1 would be offered by the local brand.

MediaTek Partners With Google For Android Oreo (Go Edition)

Turns out, Cherry Mobile plans to release their own Android Oreo (Go Edition) phones, though their offerings are not scheduled to come out until Q2 of this year. But considering the huge amount of devices that they make for the ultra-affordable segment of the market, the move was only natural.

These phones will likely run MediaTek processors, and will probably use the the MT6739, MT6737, and MT6580 chipsets. We have no idea as of yet when it comes to pricing as of yet.
