After waiting over 4 years for a successor to the X-E4, Fujifilm is finally updating its compact mirrorless camera with the X-E5, retaining its iconic look that resembles the X100VI with the flexibility of interchangeable lenses. You still get the same rangefinder-style design with a machined aluminum top plate, with Fujifilm adding a Film Simulation dial that we first saw on the X-T50. On the X-E5, the Film Simulation Dial has a more classic look with a circular window giving you a preview of the active mode. There’s also a dedicated Bluetooth button on the X-E5, allowing you for a convenient way of transferring photos wirelessly.
The X-E5’s electronic viewfinder has been updated to include 3 Surround View modes that allow the selection of a black, semi-transparent or line outline showing the image’s aspect ratio and what is outside of it to better anticipate subjects moving into frame. There’s also a Simple View option that emulates the viewfinder from an analog film SLR.
Like the X100VI, the X-E5 uses a 40.2-megapixel X-Trans 5 HR sensor and X-Processor 5 imaging engine, and comes with in-body image stabilization (IBIS) that can compensate for up to 7 stops. This combination gives the X-E5 a lower base ISO of 125, along with deep learning AI-powered subject detection AF across a broader range of subjects. You also get a two-step digital teleconverter feature that crops into the sensor to provide a 1.4x or 2x digital zoom.
Joining the X-E5 is the all-new XF23mmF2.8 R WR pancake lens, making for a compact combo that’s great for street photography.
The Fujifilm X-E5 is priced at Php 91,990Â for the body only and Php 104,990 with the XF23mm F/2.8 R WR pancake lens, and will be available in August.
