Fujifilm’s X Half is a TikTok-Ready Digicam with an Analog Charm

After the GFX100RF, Fujifilm goes compact with the X half. This all-new camera is inspired by analog half-frame cameras, bringing in new creative possibilities in a digital format.

Inside the camera is a 1-inch, 20-megapixel sensor that has a 17-megapixel effective resolution for a 3:4 aspect ratio. You have a Fujinon 10.8mm f/2.8 Super EDC lens that is equivalent to a 25mm lens in full frame format. The X half is so compact, it’s smaller than most smartphones out in the market.

Making it fun is its vertical LCD screen that has a 3:4 aspect ratio, making it ideal for social media posting. There’s another touchscreen display beside it for tweaking other settings. While it is more of a digicam, the X half can be used for videos as well with a built-in video light, making it a potentially great accessory for making TikTok videos or Instagram reels with its vertically-oriented sensor. There’s a “2-in-1” mode that combines two images or clips in-camera for a unique look.

While it is a digital camera, it has that analog charm with an optical viewfinder, a “wind” lever, exposure compensation dial, a cold shoe, 13 Film Simulation modes, Grain Effect, and 12 new filters like light leak and halation to give your photos that unique look. You can print photos taken with the X half through Instax printers, and Fujifilm is launching a new app dedicated for the camera.

The X half is priced at Php 44,990 and will be available starting June 6.
