The Galaxy S24 Ultra is Lighter, Stronger, and Smarter

The Galaxy S24 Ultra finally made its official appearance at this year’s Unpacked at San Francisco, and Samsung made a subtle design change to its premium flagship phone: it’s the first Samsung phone to use Titanium for the frame, which should help the Galaxy S24 Ultra to be more durable and lighter in the process. Like its brothers, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will be hitting the Philippines soon.

The other change is the display: for the first time in a very long while, Samsung’s top-end phone no longer has a curved display; you’re getting a flat display on the Galaxy S24 Ultra instead. This is a marked departure from Samsung’s trademark curved AMOLED panels on its flagship, a design trend that it popularized in the previous decade. It’s clear that Samsung’s taking a page out of Apple’s playbook, whose top-of-the-line iPhone 15 Pro also use a flat display and a titanium frame.

Similar to Google’s Pixel 8 phones, Samsung’s main focus on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and really, the whole Galaxy S24 line, is software and user experience. The brand has made a big bet on AI, introducing several nifty features like ike Live Translation, Interpreter, Generative Edit for Photos, and Instant Slo-Mo for videos–all of which users can enjoy on the Galaxy S24 Ultra out of the box.

Samsung also wants to match the Pixel 8 series in terms of software updates as well: S24 series phone owners will be getting seven major Android updates and seven years of security updates, ensuring that owners will get to use their phones for a very, very long time.

While most of the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s hardware is roughly the same–save for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor that’s needed to do all of the Galaxy AI-related tasks–it gets a new 50-megapixel telephoto camera that has a lower 5x optical zoom but a brighter f/3.4 aperture.

Here are the prices of the variants that are coming to the Philippines:
