While Samsung usually announces its next-generation foldable devices in August (like with the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Z Fold4), there are new rumors that the next Unpacked Event for the Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 will be held in late July. While that may sound like a big change for Samsung, it does not come as a surprise: with reports that Google will reveal the Pixel Fold on May 10 at Google’s annual I/O Conference, it seems that Samsung wants to keep its reign as the brand of choice when it comes to foldable devices.

There’s no specific date in mind, but it’s speculated that the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5–along with the Tab S9 series and Watch6–will be anywhere between July 25 to 27. Samsung’s decision to do an earlier unveiling appears to be a response to the global availability of some foldable devices like OPPO’s Find N2 Flip, which is priced aggressively compared to its own Galaxy Z Flip4.

A post by Tech_Reve further confirms this, stating that Samsung plans to mass-produce its new foldable phone hinges for the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 by early June to make it in time for the supposed July launch. Aside from that, Tech_Reve also hinted that the next Galaxy Unpacked event will be held in Busan, South Korea to support its bid for the Busan Expo.
