Here’s Your Best Look at the POCO X5 Pro 5G

The POCO X5 Pro 5G is confirmed to be the global version of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition.

With POCO Philippines having a Lazada listing that hints at a new product coming soon, our educated guess is that it might be either the X5 or X5 Pro. Both phones do have 5G connectivity, and the latter was revealed in these live photos.

Based on what’s written on the packaging, the POCO X5 Pro 5G will be powered by a Snapdragon 778G processor, and one of the variants will be 8GB/256GB. It will have a 120hz Full HD+ AMOLED display (presumably the same 6.67-inch panel that Xiaomi, POCO, and Redmi have been using—so expect a side-mounted fingerprint scanner), stereo speakers, and a 108-megapixel main rear camera. Keeping the lights on is a 5000mAh battery that supports 67w charging.

Compared to the POCO X4 Pro 5G, the biggest upgrade on the POCO X5 Pro 5G is the Snapdragon 778G processor: aside from being significantly better than the Snapdragon 695 especially with gaming, the Snapdragon 778G adds support for 4K video recording–something that has been criticized with the POCO X4 Pro 5G (and practically all phones that used the Snapdragon 695).

If the specs sound familiar, that’s because the POCO X5 Pro 5G is essentially the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition that’s made for global markets. There’s no word yet on pricing, but since the 8GB/256GB version of its predecessor is priced at Php 17,990, we expect the X5 Pro 5G to have roughly the same price as well.
