Is the Magic V3 Better than the Galaxy Z Fold6?

After clapping back at the newly-announced Galaxy Z Fold6, it is HONOR’s turn to debut its new foldable with the Magic V3. If the Magic V2 was already crazy thin at 9.9mm, HONOR pushes the boundaries further with the 9.2mm thickness of the Magic V3.

This was made possible through a new design, which consists of a 7-series aluminum frame. HONOR is catching up with water resistance on the V3 with its IPx8 rating–it’s not as amazing as the Galaxy Z Fold6’s IP48 rating, but at least there’s water resistance on the Magic V3. The Magic V3 is even lighter at 226 grams, making it roughly the same weight as the Magic6 Pro.

The displays are the same as its predecessor: 6.43-inch LTPO outer display and 7.92-inch LTPO inner display, both having a 120hz refresh rate. You still get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner–which is something that has barely changed with foldable phones.

Aside from having a more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 inside, HONOR managed to fit a bigger vapor chamber inside just like Samsung, and even add a 50-megapixel periscope camera with a 3.5x optical zoom to the mix while maintaining its slim profile. The other two cameras are a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS and a 40-megapixel ultra-wide camera, while both displays have a 20-megapixel selfie shooter. Keeping the lights on is a 5150mAh silicon-carbon battery that supports 66w wired and 50w wireless charging.

The Magic V3 starts at CNY 8999(~Php 73k) for the 12GB/256GB model and goes up to CNY 10999(~Php 89k) for the 16GB/1TB model. There’s no word yet if HONOR has plans to make the Magic V3 available outside of China–at least for now.
