HONOR X40 Reportedly Getting Snapdragon 888-Powered GT Version

Remember the X40, the mid-range phone from HONOR that has a really unusual camera module design? HONOR is reportedly going to launch an X40 GT version that is focused on pure performance–similar to how the original Pocophone F1 was marketed back in 2018.

Being a GT model, the main selling point of this HONOR X40 variant is its use of a Snapdragon 888 processor. While the flagship chip is two generations old–three with the impending announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in mid-November–the Snapdragon 888 is a powerful chip and can handle various tasks, especially gaming.

The X40 GT looks similar to its vanilla sibling based on the official teaser poster, though the circular camera module appears to have three cameras instead of two, along with a prominent GT branding right on the center. The back panel has a carbon fiber-like finish and neon green accents on the camera module and on the carbon fiber stripe running through the center of the phone. Unlike its vanilla sibling, the X40 GT has a flat display. The punch-hole is still in the center, and we presume that it will still use an OLED panel since the vanilla model did use a curved AMOLED panel.

HONOR is mum on the other details of the X40 GT, but we should know more about this mid-range phone come October 13.
