What’s New With The HONOR X8c?

After HONOR has unveiled the X7c and X9c, it’s logical that their next phone will be the X8c. The X8c was silently unveiled at the global website of HONOR, and its difference with the X8b is minimal.

While both phones look identical with the unique capsule-shaped punch-hole for the 50-megapixel selfie shooter, HONOR upgraded the X8c’s AMOLED panel with a 120hz refresh rate and 2800nits of peak brightness. The X8c is also thicker at 7.1mm (vs 6.8mm on the X8b), but the added thickness gives it an IP64 rating, a 1.8 meter drop resistance, and a bigger 5000mAh battery–which sadly is not a silicon-carbon one.

The processor gets a slight upgrade with a Snapdragon 685 that offers higher clock speeds for its performance cores, while RAM and storage configurations remain the same. You also get the same 35w USB-C charging and the same camera setup that consists of a 108-megapixel main shooter and 5-megapixel ultrawide. HONOR ditched the filler camera and added OIS on the main camera, which is a very welcome upgrade.

While we welcome the added IP rating and OIS on the main camera, the X8c is stuck using a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a single speaker–two features we don’t expect to see on any 2025 midrange phone. Fortunately it does come with Android 15-based MagicOS 9 out of the box.

HONOR has yet revealed the pricing and availability of the X8c, but given the trend we saw on the X9c we expect its official pricing in the Philippines to be not far off from the X8b.
