Huawei Climbs To No 3 Spot In PH, Within Spitting Distance Of OPPO

A phenomenal rise for the company

Huawei’s not just making waves on the international market. After managing to unseat Apple as the #2 smartphone maker based on information from IDC, the brand has also achieved phenomenal growth in the Philippines, one of the key developing markets for the company.

According to research firm GfK, Huawei Philippines has managed to capture third place in terms of both volume and value, putting both at 14.5 and 14.8 percent  respectively for the month of June.

While Samsung is still top dog at 29.3 and 37.4 respectively, Huawei’s positioning puts them well in the reach of OPPO, who is currently second place according to GfK at 16.7 percent for both volume and value.

Interestingly the data does not account for sales of the company’s recently released Nova 3 and 3i, which were only made available for sale a few weeks ago. Huawei reps have told us that these two phones are enjoying phenomenal sales, with the devices flying off the shelves in partner stores.

It seems like the seeds of the company’s focus on offering competitive mid-range phones and refusal to breach the Php 50,000 mark when it comes to flagship pricing is bearing fruit. Huawei is serious about reaching the no 2 spot this year, and if they maintain their momentum they may be able to do just that.
