Midrange Gaming Comparo: Infinix GT 30 Pro vs POCO X7 Pro

Gaming midrange phones are all the rage lately, and both Infinix and POCO are consistent contenders for the top choices at the under Php 20k segment. For 2025, the competition for midrange gaming phones is intense with the POCO X7 Pro and Infinix GT 30 Pro, both being solid offerings for gamers who are on a budget. Which is the better pick? Let’s break it down in this comparo:

Design

Both phones have a boxy look with flat sides for their polycarbonate frame. The GT 30 Pro has a smaller camera module, while the X7 Pro has a higher IP68/69 rating. For their regular edition variants, the X7 Pro has a dual-tone look for its glossy back panel, while the GT 30 Pro has a subtle mecha design for its back panel—which has a nice frosted finish for better resistance against smudges.

Both phones may be using plastic for the back panel, but the GT 30 Pro feels more premium on the hand. Aside from that, the GT 30 Pro also has LED lighting that can be programmed for a variety of things–and it is subtly placed on the back panel without screaming “gamer!” at the user.

Display and speakers

Both boast a flat AMOLED panel that’s ideal for gaming, and have Gorilla Glass 7i protection against scratches and accidental drops. Aside from being slightly bigger, Infinix used a better panel on the GT 30 Pro with a higher peak brightness of 4500nits and a higher 144hz refresh rate. This is also evident when comparing them side-by-side, as the GT 30 Pro has better color reproduction with videos.

Both phones have stereo speakers, and audio quality is generally the same even when cranking the volume to the max.

Cameras

While it is not a priority for gaming phones, both phones get the basics covered with a main camera and an ultrawide camera. Both use an 8-megapixel sensor for the ultrawide camera and differ with the main camera. The X7 Pro uses a 50-megapixel IMX882 sensor with OIS, while the GT 30 Pro uses a 108-megapixel ISOCELL HMX sensor.

For the main camera, while both produce a decent amount of detail in most lighting conditions, we noticed that the GT 30 Pro’s color temperature leans slightly to the warm side while the X7 Pro tends to boost saturation. The GT 30 Pro is challenged in low-light situations because of not having OIS, which is why the X7 Pro gets more detailed shots with its night mode feature.

For the ultrawide camera, the GT 30 Pro has more detailed shots despite also using an 8-megapixel sensor because it has autofocus. We also noticed that the X7 Pro’s ultrawide camera tends to underexpose, with the GT 30 Pro having better overall exposure when compared side-by-side.

For selfies, the X7 Pro takes the lead for being more detailed and more properly exposed–and that’s because it uses a higher resolution 20-megapixel sensor compared to the GT 30 Pro’s 13-megapixel selfie shooter.

Internals

Solidifying their gamer cred, both phones have up to 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, giving you a smooth and top-notch experience for all games. They differ with their processor of choice, with the X7 Pro using the Dimensity 8400 and the GT 30 Pro using the Dimensity 8350.

While the Dimensity 8400 gives you better GPU performance, both chips are solid picks for midrange gaming phones—and we argue that they are among the best you can go for at under Php 20k. The GT 30 Pro leverages by having additional cooling with its MagCharge Cooler system that maximizes the performance of the Dimensity 8350 even under heavy loads to give you a more consistent performance.

We’ve used both phones to play long sessions of Genshin Impact at max graphics settings, and the GT 30 Pro ran cooler after 30 minutes of playing–and that’s without using the MagCooler system. With the MagCooler, the GT 30 Pro was able to deliver more consistent frames on Genshin Impact even with the graphics set to maximum.

Aside from Genshin Impact, the GT 30 Pro is capable of running Call of Duty Mobile at 120FPS, which is a feat for a midrange gaming phone as the X7 Pro is limited to 90FPS. This is made possible with Infinix’s “All-Day 120FPS System” when combined with the Thermal MagCase and MagCooler.

Battery

The X7 Pro has a bigger 6000mAh battery that supports 90w charging, while the GT 30 Pro has flexible charging options for its 5500mAh battery with 45w wired and 30w wireless charging. The latter is part of the GT 30 Pro’s MagCharge system, which is a clever solution for charging and cooling at the same time.

Making the MagCharge system also unique because it also allows for bypass charging. This means that you can power the GT 30 Pro through the MagCooler while keeping its internals cool enough to give you sustained performance with virtually zero frame drops and zero lag.

Based on our experience with both phones, battery life is roughly the same with the GT 30 Pro having better power management in maximizing its 5500mAh battery.

Price

The Infinix GT 30 Pro starts at Php 13,999 for the 8GB/256GB variant, while the POCO X7 Pro starts at Php 16,999. While POCO’s midrange gaming phone has a bigger battery and better processor, Infinix offers great value for its asking price especially with its clever approach to cooling and charging the phone at the same time, along with a better display and ultrawide camera performance.

To make it even better, you can get the GT 30 Pro for as low as Php 11,999 with the first sale promo, making it a solid deal for those looking for a powerful midrange gaming phone.
