Is the Motorola Moto G52 a Downgrade from the Moto G51?

The Motorola Moto G51 may be just a few months old in the global market, yet the brand announced a “newer” version in Europe with the Moto G52. Contrary to the naming scheme, the Moto G52 is not necessarily an upgrade over the still new Moto G51.

While you get improvements like 30w wired charging, 90hz AMOLED display, and Android 12 out of the box, the biggest con of the Moto G52 is its use of a Snapdragon 680 processor that ditches 5G connectivity for future-proofing purposes.

Motorola G52 Specs

  • Snapdragon 680 processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, expandable via MicroSD
  • 6.6-inch Full HD+ AMOLED Display, 90hz refresh rate, 240hz touch response rate
  • 50-megapixel f/1.7 main camera with PDAF, 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor
  • 13-megapixel f/2.2 front camera
  • 4G, LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, side-mounted fingerprint scanner
  • Dolby Atmos
  • 5000mAh battery
  • 30w charging
  • Android 12, MYUI 2.0

The Moto G52 is priced at 250 Euros(~Php 14.1k) and will be available in Europe later this month. There’s no word yet if it will be available in other countries like the Philippines.

The European pricing of the Moto G52 is interesting: given that European prices is usually more expensive, the Moto G52 might be priced closely to the SRP of the Moto G51 in the Philippines. Are you ok with losing 5G connectivity in exchange for a 90hz AMOLED display and faster 30w wired charging?
