18:9 aspect ratio is all the rage nowadays.
Tech blog Android Police has dibs on an early render showcasing Google‘s upcoming Pixel 2 XL handset. The Google Pixel 2 XL‘s design (if this a reliable leak) looks very similar to the current Pixel XL, except that it’ll be sporting a wide 18:9 aspect ratio for its rumored 6-inch AMOLED display. As the case with most high-end phones nowadays, the Pixel 2 XL looks to be polished with 2.5D curved glass and will be shipping with thin bezels, though not quite at the level of Xiaomi’s Mi MIX yet.
Moving to the Google Pixel 2 XL’s back, the top glass finish is still present from its predecessor, but this time, its footprint has been reduced. The glass area used to house the rear fingerprint scanner, but now only the camera sensor and the LED flash remain. The render doesn’t confirm whether the Pixel 2 XL will be ditching the headphone jack, as an earlier leak mentioned.

Other gossip grapevine speculation for the Google Pixel 2 XL includes “squeeze functionality”, similar to the HTC U11’s Edge Sense technology.
Android Police notes that this design might still be subject to change and that this is not the final retail render.
