While the spotlight for Lenovo at CES 2025 is the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 and its rollable display, another product that’s also worth noting is the ThinkPad X9. Despite its name, it looks far from the ThinkPads we know: it is less boxy in design, does not come in black, and omits the iconic trackpoint.
Available in 14-inch and 15-inch models, the ThinkPad X9 is made from a sheet of aluminum with an indentation on the lid for the webcam and microphones. You get a redesigned keyboard and a large trackpad, making it another viable rival to the MacBook Air M3. It does take cues from the first-generation MacBook Air with the Engine Hub, which is an area in the ThinkPad X9 that houses all the ports that include two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, a full-sized HDMI 2.1 port, a USB-A port, and a headphone jack.
Despite being slim, the ThinkPad X9 is repairable and upgradable with its detachable D-cover that gives you access to the battery and SSD. Powering it Intel’s Core Ultra 200 series processors starting with the Core Ultra 5 226V. RAM is fixed at 16GB, and storage starts at 256GB. Both versions come with 2.8K OLED displays with 400nits peak brightness (500nits for the 15-inch model), along with 80wHr batteries, WiFi 7, and an 8-megapixel webcam.
The ThinkPad X9 is now available for preorder and starts at Php 108,195 for the 14-inch model and Php 115,295 for the 15-inch model.
