MediaTek Partners with Intel for 5G Support for Laptops

To debut in select HP and Dell laptops

Ahead of its official 5G launch later today, MediaTek announced that it is partnering with Intel to bring 5G support to Intel-powered laptops. In a statement, MediaTek President Joe Chen said that “5G will usher in the next era of PC experiences,” and that their partnership with Intel “highlights MediaTek’s expertise in designing 5G technology for global markets.”

Under the said partnership, HP and Dell will be the first OEMs to have 5G-powered Windows laptops, which is expected to debut in early 2021.

As for the 5G modem that will be used, MediaTek will be using a chip that is based on the Helio M70 that they debuted last May.
