MediaTek Teases Mid-Range Dimensity 8000

MediaTek Teases Mid-Range Dimensity 8000

After announcing the 4nm-based Dimensity 9000 last November, where it is expected to appear on the Find X4 and Redmi K50 soon, MediaTek teased their next mid-range processor with the Dimensity 8000.

Originally rumored as the Dimensity 7000, MediaTek did mention the Dimensity 8000 in its latest presentation, but the company remains mum about its specs. However, Digital Chat Station reveals that the Dimensity 8000 will use TSMC’s 5nm process and will use ARM’s older Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores in a 4/4 configuration. The Cortex-A78 cores will run at 2.75Ghz, while the Cortex-A55 cores will run at 2.0Ghz.

On the GPU side, however, the Dimensity 8000 will use a newer Mali-G510 MC6. To recap, the Mali-G510’s architecture is twice as fast and up to 22% more power efficient than ARM’s previous generation of GPUs.

Digital Chat Station also mentioned that the Dimensity 8000 will support up to Full HD+ resolution at up to 168hz or Quad HD+ resolution at up to 120hz, along with support for LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1. Some reports also reveal that the Dimensity 8000 might support up to 75w fast charging.

Redmi and realme are expected to be the first brands to use the upcoming mid-range processor in 2022.
