Tech Meets Art: MSI Prestige 13 AI+ Ukiyo-E Hands On

MSI is no stranger to making unique laptops, and the Prestige 13 AI+ Ukiyo-E Edition that was unveiled at COMPUTEX 2025 is the best example of tech and art collaborating together. Seeing the laptop in person will make you appreciate the detail done to its beautiful lid–and it goes beyond that.

MSI Prestige 13 AI+ Ukiyo-E Hands-On: Design

The bulk of this hands-on focuses on the beauty of its lid. It is hand-painted with 8 layers of lacquer, with an adhesive applied as a base for the gold powder to make the MSI logo and the artist’s signature stand out. MSI collaborated with Japanese lacquerware company OKADAYA and chose Katsushika Hokusai’s “Great Wave off Kanagawa”, which is one of the most iconic Japanese artworks out there. Since it is hand-painted, MSI will only sell 1000 units, making it a coveted art piece by itself.

Aside from the lid, there are many subtle details on this laptop to make it a work of art: the keycaps have a piano gloss finish and gold letering, and gold is used to the text in labelling the ports. As for the serial, each of the 1000 laptops will have an engraved unique number. The keyboard keeps the white backlighting used on regular Prestige 13 AI+ models.

Port selection includes two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, MicroSD card slot, and a USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port. Even with the layers of lacquer paint on the lid, the Prestige 13 AI+ manages to maintain its under 1kg weight, which is also a feat on its own.

At the top bezel houses a 5-megapixel webcam that’s a big upgrade over the usual webcams we see in laptops.

MSI only mentioned that it will have up to a Core Ultra 9 288V processor, and other configuration options include up to 32GB RAM and up to 1TB SSD storage. This makes this beautiful laptop a powerful one, especially with all the Copilot+ features Microsoft has to offer.

Keeping the lights on is a 75wHr battery, and with the improved efficiency of Core Ultra processors the Prestige 13 AI+ can last you a whole workday on a single charge. Charging is done via 65w USB-PD.

MSI Prestige 13 AI+ Ukiyo-E Hands-On: Wrap-up and conclusions

With COMPUTEX 2025 focusing heavily on AI, it is nice to see brands like MSI find different ways to make their offerings unique. Incorporating traditional Japanese artwork on a laptop is something we’d least expect for COMPUTEX, and getting your hands on one will be difficult: aside from being limited to 1000 units, the Prestige 13 AI+ Ukiyo-E is priced at $1599 or around Php 89,000 when converted. MSI has yet to reveal availability, and we’re not sure if he brand has plans of bringing a few units to the Philippines.
