MyPhone Iceberg Launches in Style at Eastwood Grand Plaza
The highly anticipated MyPhone Iceberg finally debuted in grand fashion at the Eastwood Grand Plaza. Hundreds of customers lined-up eager to be one of the first to buy the 5.7-inch specced out Phablet. We dropped by the event just in time to see the big reveal (complete with the “booth babes”). There were several demo units on hand so we took our time to play around with a unit to see if the Iceberg would live up to all the hype it’s been getting. Read on for our initial impressions.

Iceberg’s got style: Initial Impressions

The MyPhone Iceberg is definitely a stunning phablet. Heck it’s probably the nicest looking local branded phablet in the market to-date. We say that because it’s the first local phablet to have an aluminum back to compliment the usual glossy plastic. The result is a sleek and solid device that can roll together with a lot of other global brands.

By the way, to those who have been dreading seeing the Philippine map at the back of the device, MyPhone decided to forego that. So to those who never really liked it you’ve got another reason to seriously consider the MyPhone Iceberg if you’re in the market for a phablet.
Moving to the front, we have the huge 5.7-inch screen. The display quality and viewing angles are both quite good. Resolution is actually in HD (1280×720, ~257ppi). Images and text were crisp. Video playback was fantastic. You’ll definitely want to watch a lot of movies with this.
Now you’re probably thinking… “hassle kaya walang microSD”. MyPhone anticipated that and it comes with an OTG cable that you can just plug in your USB or external hard drive that’s filled with your content. Personally I would have loved it if it came already with a microSD slot but then again this device sells for just Php12,000 so that’s quite okay already.

On the software side our initial encounter with the Iceberg was smooth and fluid. We didn’t encounter any lags or delays and that’s probably thanks to the quad-core processor and the RAM. By the way, we weren’t able to try the Clever Motion feature (gesture controls) but we saw the booth girls demonstrating it to curious customers.
Initial Verdict: Another Good Phablet Enters the Market
Just like what we’ve said with previous Phablet reviews and features, the problem with this particular category is that it is very polarizing. Not everyone will like 5.7-inch phones. However there will be a market for it, those who would prefer to skip having a tablet and just have both functionalities in one device (para sa mga addict manood while on-the-go it’s perfect).
We’ll try to get a review unit so we can do a full review.
Congratulations MyPhone on the successful launch of the Iceberg! We look forward to seeing what you guys have next!
