While we’re waiting for the Nothing Phone (2) and Google’s official announcement of Android 14, Nothing Founder and CEO Carl Pei went ahead and confirmed that the Nothing Phone (1) will be getting access to Android 14 Beta soon. This is an impressive feat for an upper mid-range phone, as those who get early access to the latest Android version are usually flagship devices.

We know that Android 14 is expected to be announced at Google’s I/O conference on May 10, and given Pei’s announcement, we expect the Nothing Phone (1) to have access to Android 14 Beta by the end of May at the minimum. Other phones that are currently being tested for Android 14 include Xiaomi for its 13 series and Pad 6 series.

Some of the new features of Android 14 include an improved Material You dynamic theming interace, support for satellite communication, and support for passkeys for password-less authentications.

To recap, Nothing’s first phone offering is powered by a Snapdragon 778G+ processor and higlights a unique Glyph Interface LED lighting on its translucent back panel that has different functions. It’s a compelling upper mid-range phone with its dual 50-megapixel rear cameras, aluminum frame, and 120hz AMOLED display.
