With plans to going mainstream
While there’s still buzz about the OnePlus 5T (which now comes in two new colors, BTW), OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has given a possible release date for the OnePlus 6. In an interview, Lau said that they plan to release the successor to the OnePlus 5T by late second quarter, which means a June 2018 release.
While Lau did not divulge details on the possible name just yet, he said that the next OnePlus device will be equipped with a Snapdragon 845 processor–the same processor to be found in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ and the Sony Xperia XZ2.
“Of course, there’s no other choice,” Lau said.
Aside from those small details about the upcoming OnePlus 6, Lau added that it plans to enter the US market this year, though there’s no definite time frame for it yet.
Owners of the older OnePlus 3 and 3T should also rejoice, as Lau said that the two devices will soon get beta versions of the Face Unlock tech on the 5T.
“There’s no reason to withhold features we can easily implement,” Pei said.
