The A58 4G gets a successor in India before 2023 ends, as OPPO announced the A59 5G. OPPO did use the A59 model back in 2016, so the 2023 version (or rather 2024) is more up-to-date with 5G connectivity and modern looks.
The A59 5G is powered by a Dimensity 6020 processor, which is a rebranded Dimensity 700 at its core. It comes with 128GB of storage and up to 6GB RAM. Comparing it to the A58 4G, the A59 5G is slightly smaller with its 6.56-inch 90hz HD+ display that has a dated notch for an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Its dual rear camera setup consists of a 13-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor, which feels like a downgrade.
Other features of the A59 5G include a 5000mAh battery that supports 33w charging, stereo speakers, a headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and IP54 certification. While it’s supposed to be a 2024 offering, the A59 5G comes with Android 13-based ColorOS 13.1–there’s no word when it will get updated to Android 14.
The A59 5G is priced at INR 14,999(~Php 10k) for the 4GB RAM version and INR 16,999(~Php 11.5k) for the 6GB RAM version. It will be available in India on December 25. OPPO usually makes most of its A-series models available in the Philippines, so expect the A59 5G to head to our shores soon.
