After being in the rumor mill for quite some time, OPPO made the A98 5G official globally—and is set to arrive in the Philippines soon. The top-end variant of the A-series is 5G-ready with its use of a Snapdragon 695 processor that’s paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.
Its dual circle design has three cameras: a 64-megapixel main camera, 2-megapixel mono sensor, ands a 2-megapixel microlens that’s similar to the one found on the Reno8 T 5G where it can do up to 40x magnification.
While its looks and internals are similar to the Reno8 T 5G, the A98 5G settles for a flat 6.72-inch IPS display with a 120hz refresh rate, 240hz touch response rate and a punch hole for a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. Being an IPS panel, you only get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner with it. Like the Reno8 T 5G, the A98 5G comes with a 5000mAh battery that supports 67w SuperVOOC charging.
With the A98 5G being spotted at the OPPO Philippines’ website, it is expected to become available locally soon. Revu posted that pre-orders for the OPPO A98 5G in the Philippines will begin on September 12, and those who will pre-order until September 21 will get a pair of TWS earbuds with their purchase. Official sales re said to begin on September 22, and is expected to be priced at under Php 20k given that it’s essentially a Reno8 T 5G with a flat IPS display and lower-resolution main camera.
