OPPO Find N3 First Impressions Philippines: Foldable Camera Beast?

OPPO Find N3 First Impressions Philippines: Foldable Camera Beast?

OPPO Find N3 Initial Verdict Philippines: Beyond a sleeker design and a bigger overall size, OPPO wants to give the Find N3 the same camera performance that you get on its premium flagship Find X6 Pro at a compact form factor. Its a very interesting foldable–especially with the Find N3 set to have global availability, unlike its predecessors.

Pros

-Excellent main camera performance

-Premium vegan leather option

Cons

-Camera bump takes up almost half of the back panel

-Not coming to the Philippines

After making the Find N2 Flip globally available, OPPO wants to expand its foldable phone lineup across different countries with the unveiling of the Find N3. This marks the first time OPPO is making its tablet foldable available outside of China in hopes of giving the foldables market better competition. We got our hands on the Find N3 ahead of its official launch in Singapore, and here are our first impressions of OPPO’s new tablet foldable.

OPPO Find N3 Philippines: Design

Unlike the first Find N models, the Find N3 is larger. That’s partly because you get a bigger module to house its new set of Hasselblad-branded cameras–more on that later. Our review unit is in black, and the back panel uses vegan leather to emphasize the Find N3’s premium nature. There’s also a gold color option as well, which has a frosted glass back instead.

The LED flash is placed outside of the huge module because all three cameras use large sensors. The module also has Hasselblad’s signature H logo to remind you of OPPO’s partnership with the renowned Swedish camera manufacturer.

Just like the more compact Find N3 Flip, the Find N3 gets OnePlus’ trademark alert slider switch that lets you conveniently switch sound profiles on the fly. The Find N3’s frame is made out of aluminum, and you still get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner with it.

The Find N3 touts OPPO’s third-generation Flexion Hinge that maintains the crease-free nature of the inner display while increasing durability to 1,000,000 folds. This means that on paper, the Find N3 can withstand more than 13 years of fold and unfolding if you go by an average of 100 folds a day.

OPPO Find N3 Philippines: Display and Speakers

Being physically bigger than the Find N2, the Find N3 gets a bump in screen size for both the inner and outer displays. The inner display is now 7.8 inches, while the other display is 6.3 inches. OPPO made sure that both displays are flagship-caliber with features like a 120hz variable refresh rate, support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ content, 2800nits peak brightness (that’s even higher than what the Find X6 Pro has to offer), and 1440hz PWM dimming. Both displays also get a bump in display resolution, so UI icons look more detailed on the Find N3 compared to its predecessor.

Together with the updated hinge, the Find N3 maintains a creaseless design for the inner display, giving you a great viewing experience compared to other foldables. Like its predecessors, the Find N3’s AMOLED display delivers excellent and accurate colors, along with deep blacks that you’ll appreciate when watching content from YouTube and Netflix.

The Find N3 has a unique 3-speaker system that’s meant to give you a stereo speaker experience in both folded and unfolded modes. Those speakers also offer spatial audio, but we will have to test that out to see if OPPO delivers on its promise in that department.

OPPO Find N3 Philippines: Cameras

OPPO wants its foldables to excel in the camera department, and that’s also why the Find N3 has a large module at the back. The setup consists of a 64-megapixel telephoto camera that has OIS and a 70mm focal length equivalent, a 48-megapixel IMX581 ultra-wide camera with a 14mm focal length equivalent, and an all-new 48-megapixel Sony LYTIA-T808 main camera with OIS and a 24mm focal length equivalent.

This also marks the first time we’re seeing a Sony LYTIA sensor instead of the usual IMX series on a smartphone. The one that the Find N3 uses a 1/1.35-inch sensor that Sony claims can rival a 1-inch sensor with its “2-layer transistor pixel structure”.

Looking through the few photos we shot in Singapore, the new sensor used for the main camera delivered an impressive dynamic range and detail even in low-light situations. The Find N3’s main camera does a good job of balancing the bright lights around Singapore’s cityscape and avoiding any blown highlights.

With its large sensor and unique sensor design, the Find N3’s main camera has an excellent 2x digital zoom that’s marginally better than the implementations made on other phones. The details and dynamic range on photos shot in 2x digital zoom are consistent with photos shot at 1x.

Comparing the Find N3’s main camera side-by-side with the ultra-wide and telephoto cameras, it’s clear that OPPO wants to market the Find N3 as a foldable phone that has the same caliber of camera quality as the Find X6 Pro. With these photos, we’re optimistic of OPPO’s ambitions for the Find N3.

OPPO Find N3 Philippines: Internals and Battery

As a flagship foldable, the Find N3 is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor that comes with16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 internal storage. There’s no question about the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, though we will need to do more tests to see if OPPO used the regular version or the overclocked variety that we first saw on Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series early this year.

The Find N3 comes with Android 13-based ColorOS 13 out of the box with specific optimizations to maximize its form factor. Being a flagship device, OPPO promises 4 major updates and 5 years of security updates for the Find N3.

The Find N3 also gets a bigger 4800mAh 2-cell battery to power it and retains the same 67w SuperVOOC charging of the Find N2. We still need more time with the Find N3 to determine its battery life, so stay tuned for that in our full review soon.

OPPO Find N3 Philippines: Wrap-up and initial conclusions

Aside from having global availability, what makes the Find N3 exciting is its cameras. It’s one of the first phones to use Sony’s new LYTIA sensors, and our first impressions show that the Find N3 can take great photos across its three cameras. The deciding factor will be its pricing, as OPPO should give a competitive price to the Find N3 to make it a formidable challenger against other foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold5.

OPPO Find N3: Price

The Find N3 is priced at S$2,399 for the 16GB/512GB model, which translates to around Php 100k when converted. Unlike the Find N3 Flip, OPPO is not bringing the Find N3 to the Philippines.
