OPPO updates its Find X8 series with the X8s series and the Ultra. The latter is shaping up to be the thinnest camera-focused flagship at just 8.78mm thick. For context, last year’s Find X7 Ultra has a thickness of 9.5mm.
Despite being thinner, the Find X8 Ultra is tougher with an IP69 rating for improved water resistance, along with a bigger 6100mAh battery inside that still supports 100w wired and 50w wireless charging. The display is the same 6.82-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED used by its predecessor, but you get an 8-core Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage.
There are changes to the Find X8 Ultra’s physical controls, where the alert slider has now been replaced by a shortcut button, and you get the Quick button at the bottom of the phone as your camera control.
The main star of the show is the cameras, where there are a few upgrades (and a downgrade). You now have a True Chroma camera for more accurate skin tones, while the main shooter is the same 1-inch LYT 900 sensor with a 23mm f/1.8 focal length equivalent.
The two telephoto cameras get a few upgrades: the short telephoto now has a 70mm focal length equivalent and a brighter f/2.1 aperture while using the same LYT-700 sensor, while the long telephoto uses a bigger LYT-600 sensor with a brighter f/3.1 aperture–and the same 135mm focal length equivalent.
As for the ultrawide, it now uses a smaller ISOCELL JN5 sensor with a 15mm f/2.0 focal length equivalent. Rounding up the cameras is a LYT-506 selfie camera with a 21mm f/2.4 focal length equivalent.
The Find X8 Ultra starts at CNY 6499(~Php 51k) for the 12GB/256GB model and goes all the way to CNY 7999(~Php 63k) for the 16GB/1TB model. Unfortunately, the Find X8 Ultra remains exclusive to China, at least for now, until OPPO changes its mind.
