The Find X7 Ultra is the New Camera King

It has been two months since OPPO debuted its latest camera monster with the Find X7 Ultra. What makes the Find X7 Ultra unique is its two periscope cameras on board–one with a 3x optical zoom and another with a longer 6x optical zoom. Both periscope cameras have a 50-megapixel sensor, and the same goes for the main and ultra-wide cameras: the main camera employs a 1-inch LYT900 sensor, while the ultrawide uses an LYT600. All four cameras have autofocus, and the two periscope cameras get OIS like the main camera.

With a beastly set of cameras, how does the Find X7 Ultra stack up against other flagship phones? It ties in with the Mate 60 Pro+ for the best smartphone camera by DxOMark with a score of 157. That’s four points higher than the already impressive Find X6 Pro, and it shows that OPPO is head-to-head with Huawei regarding imaging performance.

In DxOMark’s review of the Find X7 Ultra, they said that OPPO’s flagship goes toe-in-toe with Huawei’s Mate 60 Pro+, but stood out in portrait photography. DxOMark remarked on the Find X7 Ultra’s natural and accurate colors across all shooting conditions when shooting portraits.

The Find X7 Ultra’s impressive camera hardware helps in delivering high levels of detail across all of its four cameras. Emphasizing its strength in portrait photography, the Find X7 Ultra has accurate subject isolation especially when using its 3x telephoto camera.

While its video capabilities are limited by not having support for HDR videos, the Find X7 Ultra still captured great output with a wide dynamic range and accurate subject exposure despite using an SDR 8-bit format.

As much as we’re happy for OPPO to make it to the top once again, it’s still unfortunate that like the Find X6 Pro, the Find X7 Ultra remains exclusive to China–at least for now. We’re still hoping that OPPO makes the Find X7 Ultra available globally, so that people can experience taking photos on the best camera phone for 2024.
