Thinking out of the box
We’ve seen weird patents come out lately for the front camera from vivo, and OPPO isn’t far behind thinking outside the box. The firm has patented a new pop-up camera design that has the camera popping out from the side, rather on the top, of the phone.
The design keeps the top of the camera clear of mechanisms and protrusions, with the selfie camera module placed at the same side as the rear camera, at least for the mock-up images that was provided for the China National Intellectual Property Administration.
Obviously a patent isn’t a guarantee that a phone with this design is being made, but it’s interesting to see different manufacturers trying out different solutions to the selfie camera dilemma.
