Counterpoint has released its list of top 10 best-selling phones globally for 2024, and while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro max take the top 2 spots, the bigger news is that a flagship Android phone made it to the top 10 list with the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung’s 2024 flagship was part of the top 10 in Q1 2024, and this list further cements the Galaxy S series to be part of Samsung’s hot-selling phones.
The last time a Galaxy S series phone made it to the top 10 was in 2018 with the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus.
Samsung actually did better in 2024 compared to 2023 in terms of the number of its phones that are part of the top 10. Aside from the Galaxy S24 Ultra, other Samsung phones that are in the top 10 include the Galaxy A15 5G, Galaxy A15 4G, and Galaxy A05.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s inclusion in the top 10 is attributed to being one of the first phones to have GenAI capabilities with Galaxy AI–a trend that we’re seeing on several phones in 2025. “Samsung’s emphasis on these innovative features has resulted in strong market performance and a first-mover advantage,” Counterpoint explained.
As for the current generation of iPhones, only the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max made it to the list. The iPhone 14, Â 2023’s best-seller globally, is still on the top 10 list for 2024. Counterpoint also noted that most consumers have a preference for the Pro variants, accounting for more than half of iPhone sales annually. Despite being more expensive, financing plans and trade-in offers made the iPhone Pro models more accessible to consumers.
