Here’s Why the vivo V50 Lite 5G is Feature-Packed

vivo has made the V50 Lite series official in the Philippines, and we think that it offers even better value than the V40 Lite. Having used the V50 Lite 5G for over a week that includes a trip to Singapore, we are convinced that the upgrades the V50 Lite 5G has to offer makes it better than its predecessor.

Here are the things we like about the V50 Lite 5G:

Incredible battery life

You’ll have a hard time finding a midrange phone that offers a battery that’s bigger than 6000mAh without being too thick. The V50 Lite 5G achieves that with its 6500mAh BlueVolt battery inside a 7.79mm thick body—a feat that makes vivo’s latest midrange phone stand out. vivo even added support for 90w fast charging, so topping up that large battery will be quick.

The V40 Lite 5G joined our list last year as one of the most power-efficient midrange phones in 2024, and the V50 Lite 5G simply takes the crown as the best midrange phone when it comes to battery life. With a score of over 26 hours in PCMark’s battery benchmark test, the V50 Lite 5G simply dominates the competition—all while keeping its thickness just the same as its predecessor.

Aside from a bigger battery, vivo is promising that the V50 Lite 5G’s BlueVolt battery will keep 80% of its capacity after 5 years—proof that this midrange phone is meant to last you for several years.

Capable Cameras

The V50 Lite 5G carries over the decent camera setup used by its predecessor—50-megapixel IMX882 for the main camera, 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and 32-megapixel selfie shooter.

The main camera is a solid performer when we took it around Singapore to take a few snaps here and there, with a good dynamic range and well-preserved details even in low-light situations.

You also get a 2x digital zoom option, which takes lossless quality shots–handy in times you need extra reach for your shots.

The 8-megapixel ultrawide camera also performed well, keeping its colors consistent with the main camera—proof that even the more affordable V series phones get decent camera performance.

A nice upgrade we saw on the V50 Lite 5G is that you can shoot Full HD video at 60FPS, allowing you to take more fluid footage.

Useful tools to improve your photographs

The V40 Lite 5G made Aura Light available even with vivo’s more affordable offerings, and that carries over to the V50 Lite 5G.

Aura Light once again proves that this unique lighting feature is more than just an LED flash that remains on while you take the shot: it also adjusts color temperature dynamically to make sure that colors are as accurate as possible.

As for photo editing, the V50 Lite 5G has useful AI-powered tools like AI Photo enhancer to boost the sharpness and dynamic range of your photos, and AI Eraser that intelligently identifies people in the background to free your photos from unwanted photobombers.

Considering that the V50 Lite 5G is a midrange phone, it’s nice to have AI-powered tools to help you clean up your images before sharing them on social media—and it does so efficiently.

Great display

Like its predecessor, the V50 Lite 5G impresses with its 120hz flat AMOLED display that’s arguably better than what its rivals has to offer. With a peak brightness of 1800nits and bright, accurate colors, it is a joy to watch videos on the V50 Lite 5G. You also get Widevine L1 for watching your favorite Netflix shows in Full HD, along with stereo speakers that have good audio fidelity even if you push the volume to the highest setting.

Decent Internals

The V50 Lite 5G switches to a Dimensity 6300 processor, which offers better performance than the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 used by its predecessor. The MediaTek chip is also capable of light gaming with demanding titles like Genshin Impact, and you can get the V50 Lite 5G with up to 512GB storage to store all your games, apps, photos, and videos.

The vivo V50 Lite 5G starts at Php 16,999 for the 8GB/256GB variant and is available at vivo stores nationwide. Pre-order until April 25 to get Php 1,000 discount, limited edition vivo Buds, and vivo VIP Card with 5-year battery warranty and six months extended warranty.
