One of the things we look forward to seeing in 2024 are 5G-ready phones that are priced at under Php 10k. The recently-announced OPPO A59 5G fits the list, and POCO joins the train with the M6 5G and its Rs 10,499(~Php 7k) starting price for the 4GB/128GB variant. 

The M6 5G is a rebranded version of the Redmi 13C 5G that remains exclusive to India. To recap, key specs include a Dimensity 6100+ (which is based on the Dimensity 700) processor that’s paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, along with a 6.74-inch 90hz IPS with a punch hole for a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.

Like its Redmi sibling, you also get a dual rear camera setup that consists of a 50-megapixel main shooter and a filler QVGA depth sensor. The battery is also the same at 5000mAh, along with support for 18w USB-C charging. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, MicroSD expansion slot, headphone jack, and Android 13-based MIUI 14.

While the 4GB/128GB model is priced at around Php 7k, the top-end 8GB/256GB variant is priced at Rs 13,499 or around Php 9k, which is a competitive price for a budget 5G phone.

First sales will start on December 26 in India, and we hope POCO brings the M6 5G to the Philippines to make the budget 5G segment competitive in the country.
