Qualcomm Reveals More Details about the Snapdragon 845

30% Better than the Snapdragon 835

After it was unveiled yesterday at Qualcomm’s Tech Summit, the San Diego-based company finally revealed more details about the Snapdragon 845. Among these include the SoC’s Kryo 385 CPU, an Adreno 630 GPU, a Hexagon 685 DSP (digital signal processor), a Spectra 280 ISP (image signal processor), and X20 gigabit modem.

The Kryo 385 processor boasts of four performance cores rated up to 2.8Ghz, and four efficiency cores rated at 1.8Ghz, and is manufactured using the 10NM FinFET Process. As for the GPU, the Adreno 630 offers up to 30% improvement in graphics over the Adreno 540 GPU used in the Snapdragon 835.

The Spectra 280 ISP gives the Snapdragon 845 support for 4K HDR Video recordings at 60FPS and HD Slow Motion Video at 480FPS. The X20 modem, on the other hand, supports LTE Cat 18, with speeds up to 1.2 Gbps and has dual SIM-dual VoLTE.

In addition, the Snapdragon 845 processor comes with an AQustic audio codec, which provides better wake-word recognition, along with improved audio recording and playback.

Expect to see the Snapdragon 845 on flagship phones by Samsung, Xiaomi, LG, HTC, and Sony by early 2018.
