After focusing with content creation with the 13 Pro series, realme wants to focus with gaming with the 13+, which is set to arrive soon in the Philippines. The brand has been promoting the upcoming midrange phone with rising MoBA title Honor of Kings, further supporting the realme 13+ as a gaming-focused midrange phone.
Aside from using a Dimensity 7300 processor–which we know is a solid performer for gaming–realme paired the 13+ with 12GB RAM and 256GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage. The latter is important because having fast storage means quicker app loading times. realme even included its GT Mode on the 13+, along with software tweaks that allow select games to run better on the phone. To top it off, the realme 13+ boasts an eSports-optimized 120hz AMOLED display and a vapor chamber to efficiently manage thermals.
We’ve been using the realme 13+ across several games for a few weeks, and here are our findings:
Honor of Kings
Running the rising MoBA title is simply a breeze with the realme 13+, even if we cranked up the settings to Ultra Resolution and Max FPS. Throughout a 10-minute match, we were able to get an average FPS of 115.85, which is close to the game’s 120FPS maximum. The realme 13+ ran relatively cool during the match with a peak temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius, proving that running HoK at the highest settings is a walk in the park. The display’s touch response is excellent, ensuring that all those critical moves are recognized by the phone.
Genshin Impact
Despite being 4 years old at this point, Genshin Impact remains to be one of the most popular mobile games with arguably the best graphics. realme included specific tweaks to the Adventure RPG like Dedicated RAM and Geek Power Tuning for a better gaming experience, and the 13+ delivers: setting the game in high graphics with 60FPS enabled, we were getting an average FPS of 37.018. That’s a solid outing coming from a midrange phone, with peak temperatures reaching 41.3 degrees Celsius–which is still within tolerable range for long gaming sessions.
PUBG Mobile
Fans of this popular battle royale game should be delighted that the realme 13+ can pull off an average FPS of 86.201 in Smooth Graphics and Extreme+ FPS mode, which is close to PUBG Mobile‘s 90FPS cap. Peak temps were at 40.8 degrees Celsius, which is not bad at all. Should you prefer better graphics over FPS, the realme 13+ pulled off an impressive average FPS of 58.806 at HDR Graphics and Extreme FPS, with peak temperatures being slightly lower at 40.4 degrees Celsius.
Wuthering Waves
This Adventure RPG game is coined as Genshin Impact‘s biggest rival, and we’re not surprised why: this game is more demanding with graphics that are better than Hoyoverse’s star title. Despite that, we were able to run the game on the realme 13+ smoothly. With Dedicated RAM enabled and setting the graphics in Medium, we were able to record an average FPS of 31.15, making Wuthering Waves playable on the realme 13+. Peak temps reached 41.5 degrees Celsius, which is still within range of comfortable gaming during long sessions.
Final Thoughts
Through the four games we played, the realme 13+ proves its worth as a solid midrange phone for gaming. Aside from its capable internals and hardware features, you also get gaming-focused software tweaks in order for you to enjoy long gaming sessions with the realme 13+.
The realme 13+ is launching in the Philippines on October 24, so stay tuned for updates.
