More than a year after it debuted its wild 240w charging solution on the GT3, realme pushes charging boundaries further with its 320w SuperSonic charge. With its new tech, realme demonstrated that it can fully charge a 4420mAh battery in under 5 minutes–to be specific, 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
In its demonstration of the 320w SuperSonic charge, realme was able to charge the battery from flat to 26% in one minute, and over 50% in 2 minutes. With charging speeds that fast, realme said that it only takes a song to fully charge a phone.
We know that charging speeds that fast can degrade a battery faster than expected, and realme’s solution to that problem is a a folded battery–which is essentially a quad-cell battery that can be charged simultaneously to achieve those absurd under 5 minute full charge times. While each cell is under 3mm thick, realme claims that their design can provide around a 10% increase in capacity compared to traditional designs.
Aside from a unique battery design, realme also designed an “AirGap” voltage transformer that utilizes advanced contact-free electromagnetic conversion to ensure a power efficiency of 98% while maximizing charging speeds. The said tech also aims to improve thermal management–a major pain point for fast charging.
Like its previous 240w SuperVOOC charger, realme also made its 320W SuperSonic charger compatible with other charging protocols like SuperVOOC and USB-PD charging. The new charger has two USB-C ports, where using both simultaneously will deliver 150w and 65w charging.
