The realme GT 7 Dominates with its Relentless Battery

Review Verdict: The realme GT 7 is one of the best phones we’ve been able to try in this category so far in 2025. Its performance deserves high praise and, in our opinion, its price point is justified by its internals; especially with that massive 7000mAh battery. If you’re on the look out for a flagship killer this year, the GT 7 should make it in your top 3 choices.

Pros

  • Dimensity 9400e Delivers Amazing Performance
  • The Battery Life is Incredible
  • Relatively Thin and Light Given what its Packing

Cons

  • eSIM Support Limited to ORoaming
  • Plastic frame is a Bummer

realme has had its fair share of wins and losses recently. While they have been able to release some great products, others have been met with less than favorable online sentiments but, we think that changes with the realme GT 7. A phone that’s equipped with everything you could ask for when talking about a device in its price range, with an added bonus of extreme battery endurance.

realme GT 7 Review Philippines: Design and Build Quality

As mentioned in our first impressions of this device, realme has three world’s first with this device and that all begins with the design of the phone, which they’ve incorporated with Graphene. Its said to help with thermal management of the device by helping with heat dissipation through the back and, they even say, the screen.

While we have no way of actually testing this out scientifically, we appreciate the matte finish it gives to the devices, and we haven’t felt the phone get warm when we’ve put it through the wringer in our battery of tests. Does that mean that their IceSense Design works? Maybe but we’re going to lean a little bit to a yes.

We’re still genuinely amused by the fact that, while the GT 7 holds a 7000mAh battery, it’s still thin and light. But, we were bummed to find out that it has a plastic frame. Nonetheless, we do appreciate the ergonomics of this phone, which feels good in the hand.

It’s also IP66, 68, and 69 certified, which was put to the test when we were caught in the rain during our recent trip to Bangkok.

realme GT 7 Review Philippines: Display and Speakers

We love a good display and, thankfully, the realme GT 7 has a good one. It measures in at 6.78 inches and uses an LTPO OLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It also has great pixel density at 450 pixels per inch and nice and slim bezels to boot. What stood out to me while looking over the spec sheet of the GT 7 was the peak brightness that was listed at 6000 nits. So far, sunlight legibility has been really good with this device.

You’re also getting features you would expect from a display at this price point: HDR10+, Dolby Vision Support, and Eye Comfort features to make you feel a little safer while you doom scroll.

The speakers on this device were also really good. I do advise people to use headphones while they’re in public spaces but when you do need to share, these get nice and loud and have very little distortion at higher volumes.

realme GT 7 Review Philippines: Cameras

If there’s one area that flagship killers will always compromise on, it’s with the cameras, and that hasn’t changed with the GT 7. You do have a good set of cameras, but it’s understandable to leave some of the better hardware for the Pro model (which we’re still hoping we get in the Philippines, however unlikely that might be).

As a recap, we’re getting a 50-megapixel main shooter that’s equipped with a Sony IMX906 sensor and OIS. That’s accompanied by a 50-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera.

While we do like the results of all three, you will see a difference with the main camera and the rest on this phone; again, very understandable, given where this device is positioned. The shots from the main have great detail, good dynamic range, and the colors have a good pop to them without being oversaturated. In low light, the results are helped out a lot by the fact that it has OIS, being able to capture clean images and keeping noise to a minimum.

The telephoto does a decent job and colors remain consistent with the main cameras, but you will see it struggle more with low-light shots, which computational tries to cover up. The 8-megapixel camera does a well enough job if you don’t pixel peep, and, once Meta’s compression is done with it, you won’t be able to tell that images do come out a little softer when using this camera.

When it comes to the 32-megapixel camera, it can be a little less vibrant,t especially in trickier lighting scenarios, so make sure you give it the best chance as possible. Other than that, it does deliver results at par with most phones at this price point.

realme GT 7 Review Phillippines: Performance, Software, and Battery Life

This is where the GT 7 really brings its A Game–Performance. As a recap, it has a Dimensity 9400e under the hood, which is paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. AS far as benchmarks are concerned, you will see a considerable leap compared to the previous model; something to be expected. But, it also hangs with one of its toughest competitors in this price bracket.

In terms of gaming, you won’t be disappointed with the realme GT 7. Genshin plays smoothly at the highest settings with no visible frame rate drops. Plus, the cooling system really seems to be doing its job since we barely felt it get warm during a prolonged gaming session with the GT 7. In fact, the only time we really felt it get warm was when we were charging the phone and that was barely anything compared to other devices we’ve tried in the past.

Speaking of charging, the 7000mAh battery also supports 120W charging, which got me from 1% to 50% in 15 minutes. As far as endurance goes, our usual benchmark tests weren’t playing ball with the GT 7, but I did manage 12 hours of screen-on time with this device, which was nearly two days’ worth of juice with moderate use.

In terms of software, we’re getting realme UI 6.0 on the GT 7. You are getting a bit of bloatware on this device, and their App Market does a good job of letting you know it’s there, so make sure you turn off the notifications for it. Other than that, you’re getting a bit of a cheat code for gaming because of the AI Gaming Coach. It notifies you of enemy footsteps or nearby gunfire when playing PUBG or gives you helpful alerts on Mobile Legends. If those games are on your rotation, that might just give you a bit of an edge while playing.

It’s also worth noting that, sadly, the realme GT 7 doesn’t truly support eSIMs and is limited to ORoaming. It may not sound like a big deal to some but, as frequent travelers, eSIMs have been really convenient for us to get. ORoaming does have some pretty compelling packages so you can get data when out of the country but it would have been nice to have the option to purchase from other providers that might have better deals.

realme GT 7 Review Philippines: Wrap Up and Conclusions

We’re only about to hit the middle of 2025, but realme has a serious contender on their hands with the realme GT 7. It hits all the marks when you talk about “flagship killers,” and the battery life just puts this on top for me if you need the lasting power.

Sure, there is a bit of compromise when it comes to the cameras, but we all expect that of a phone in this price point as well. They’re good but not quite at that flagship level. We’re also sad and surprised about eSIMs locked for ORoaming purposes.

It does boil down to preference here, since the competition is tough at this price point but–so far in 2025–the GT 7 has my vote if you’re to look at the power it has under the hood, how long it actually lasts, and how quick you’re able to top it.

realme GT 7 Review Philippines: Pricing and Availability

The realme GT 7 is priced at Php 37,999, but there is a Dream Edition of this phone that will set you back Php 2,000 more so that’s Php 39,999. You can check it out at realme’s official Shopee store.
