Red Magic Announces its First-Ever Gaming Tablet

If the announcement of the Red Magic 8S Pro felt a bit plain because the only real upgrade to it from the non-S model is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 processor, the gaming brand did unveil its first-ever gaming tablet for those who want to play mobile games on a bigger screen.

While the Red Magic Tablet will cater to a rather niche audience, it does come with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, which is powerful enough to run the most demanding mobile games in the market. It can be configured with up to 16GB RAM LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage, and it comes with Red Magic’s ICE Magic cooling system which they claim can bring temperatures down by as much as 5 degrees Celsius.

Since we’re talking about a gaming tablet here, the Red Magic Tablet comes with a large 12.1-inch IPS display that has a 1600×2500 resolution, 144hz refresh rate, 240hz touch sampling rate, and 600nits of brightness. You also get four speakers with DTS tuning, and that’s impressive considering that it weights 613 grams and is 6.5mm thick at its thinnest point–and still packs a 10000mAh battery inside. Speaking of the battery, Red Magic did equip it with 80w wired charging–the fastest we’ve heard in a tablet so far–which can fully charge it in less than an hour.

Cameras are not a priority in tablets–let alone one that’s meant for gaming–but you do get a 16-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera. Because of its size, the Red Magic’s gaming tablet is meant to be used with a keyboard or a controller.

While there are no details yet on international availability, the Red Magic Tablet starts at CNY 3899 for the 12GB/256GB variant or around Php 30k when converted. Some of its optional accessories include a stylus pen and a magnetic keyboard.
