After it was spotted in a Portuguese listing early this month, Xiaomi seems to be making the Redmi 12 available in more markets like Thailand.
While we have confirmed some key features that include a 6.79-inch Full HD+ display, Helio G88 processor, 50-megapixel main camera, and 5000mAh battery, the listing in Thailand revealed more details about Xiaomi’s new budget phone. For the display, the Redmi 12 is getting a 90hz refresh rate, while the punch-hole has an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. Accompanying the 50-megapixel main camera are an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It will come with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage, though only the 8GB/128GB variant is sold in Thailand.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 18w wired charging, IP53 rating, and Android 13-based MIUI 14.
The Redmi 12 is priced at THB 5299 in Thailand, or around Php 8.6k when converted. Looking through what it has to offer, it seems that the budget phone is Xiaomi’s answer to Infinix’s HOT 30. While it is more expensive, only offers 18w wired charging, and has less internal storage at 128GB, the Redmi 12 makes up for it by having a usable ultra-wide camera and an IP53 rating for peace of mind.
With the Redmi 12 making its rounds in Thailand, it’s a matter of time for Xiaomi to possibly bring the budget phone to the Philippines.
