Redmi K50 Pro+ to Come with Snapdragon 898, Periscope Camera

It has been roughly 8 months since Xiaomi announced the Redmi K40 series in China, and reports of the Redmi K50 series are being talked about at this point. The top-end Redmi K40 Pro+ is expected to have the best possible specs–chief of them being a Snapdragon 898 processor.

Reports indicate that the Snapdragon 898 will use a Cortex-X2 Prime core running at 2.42Ghz, three Cortex-A710 Power cores running at 2.17Ghz, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores running at 1.79Ghz. The Cortex-X2 Prime core can run as high as 3.09Ghz.

Regardless of clock speeds, the Snapdragon 898 will reportedly be one of the first chips to use ARM v9 architecture—which promises up to 30% better power efficiency, and up to 16% better performance. The Snapdragon 898 will reportedly be manufactured using Samsung’s 4nm process and will use an all-new X65 5G modem that is capable of 10Gbps download speeds.

Aside from potentially being the first phone to use a Snapdragon 898, the Redmi K50 Pro+ is rumored to have an upgraded camera setup that comprises a 108-megapixel main shooter and a periscope camera. This will position the Redmi K50 Pro+ as more of a full-fledged flagship phone instead.

Other rumored features include a 5000mAh battery, 120w wired charging, Samsung E5 AMOLED curved display with a punch-hole, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
