Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Debuts with the HONOR 100

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 Debuts with the HONOR 100

True to Qualcomm’s announcements last week, HONOR debuts the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 mid-range chip with the standard HONOR 100. Joining the standard model in China is the HONOR 100 Pro, which uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Both phones get 100w charging and an in-house C1 RF chip that HONOR claims improves cellular reception.

The standard HONOR 100 still gets a curved AMOLED display like the HONOR 90, though the resolution has been bumped up to 1220p. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 claims to offer a significant performance bump over the overclocked Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 used on the HONOR 90, but we need to see tests from other outlets to see if this claim is true.

The unusual camera setup in the back houses two cameras: gone is the 200-megapixel shooter of the HONOR 90, replaced with a new 50-megapixel IMX906 with an f/1.95 aperture and OIS. The 12-megapixel ultra-wide remains; the same goes for the 50-megapixel selfie shooter. The battery is still a 5000mAh cell, and the phone maintains a slim 7.8mm profile.

The Pro model, on the other hand, has a slightly bigger curved AMOLED display that has a capsule-shaped punch-hole that adds a depth sensor to the 50-megapixel selfie shooter. It has the same rear cameras as the standard HONOR 100 but adds a 32-megapixel telephoto camera with OIS and 2.5x optical zoom.

You also get 66w wireless charging as well, along with a VC cooling solution. The Pro model’s blue and purple color options have an asymmetrical back panel design that has a mix of glass and vegan leather for a unique look.

The standard HONOR 100 starts at CNY 2499(~Php 20k) for the 12GB/256GB model, while the Pro model starts at CNY 3399(~Php 27k) for the same variant–with a 16GB/1TB model priced at CNY 4399(~Php 35k) and is limited to purple and white.

Knowing HONOR Philippines, we expect to get at least the standard variant of the HONOR 100 soon.
