The Galaxy S20+ is the top-selling flagship phone
While Q1 2020 is not a great period for smartphone sales due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Samsung and Xiaomi’s phones performed well according to Strategy Analytics. In its Q1 2020 report, the Galaxy A51 is the top-selling Android smartphone, while the Galaxy S20+ is the only top-selling flagship Android smartphone. Sales recorded for the Galaxy A51 only covers the 4G version, as the 5G version came out in April.
Xiaomi’s Redmi 8, on the other hand, is the top-selling budget Android phone, beating the Galaxy A10s and Galaxy A20s. The Redmi Note 8–Q4 2019’s top selling Android phone–is one of the top-selling phones for Q1 2020.
Strategy Analytics Associate Director Juha Winter adds that “smartphone consumers globally are becoming increasingly price-sensitive and they are seeking out new Android models that deliver the biggest bang for their buck.”
“Android is entering a post-premium era,” Winter said.
