TECNO is not slowing down regarding its entry-level line with the arrival of the Spark 20 Pro 5G in the Philippines. Making this entry-level phone stand out is that it offers 5G connectivity at an under Php 10k price point, which is increasingly becoming rare nowadays.
As its latest budget offering, we break down why the Spark 20 Pro 5G is a compelling phone for under Php 10k:
Premium design. While the Spark 20 Pro 5G shares the same design language as other Spark 20 phones (save for the Pro+ variant), TECNO refined it with a Lamé Curve Camera Island that’s inspired by luxury watches. This gives the Spark 20 Pro 5G’s camera module a chrome bevel to make it look stunning.
TECNO has also upgraded the back panel on the Spark 20 Pro 5G, with the Startrail Black colorway having a matte finish that’s resilient against smudges.
5G ready processor. The main highlight of the Spark 20 Pro 5G is its use of a Dimensity 6080 processor, which is the go-to choice for budget 5G phones. Phones using this processor are usually priced at above Php 10k (like the POVA 6 Pro), and TECNO managed to make the Spark 20 Pro 5G priced at under Php 10k to make 5G-ready phones more accessible to everyone.
TECNO also went all in with the internals as well, as the Spark 20 Pro 5G comes with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage. The latter is also impressive, as the majority of those under Php 10k phones would usually settle for eMMC storage.
Yes, it can game. Since it uses the same internals as the POVA 6 Pro, the Spark 20 Pro 5G can also handle gaming. We played Genshin Impact on the Spark 20 Pro 5G, and we got an average FPS of 29 at 88% stability in low graphics, making it playable. For Honkai: Star Rail, we were averaging 28FPS with 93% stability.
Considering that the Spark 20 Pro 5G is an entry-level phone and both games are known to be demanding, TECNO’s new entry-level 5G phone is a good option for gamers who are on a budget.
Decent main camera. The Spark 20 Pro 5G uses a familiar 108-megapixel ISOCELL HM6 sensor for the main camera. It is a favorite among budget phones with its 3x in-sensor zoom–and the Spark 20 Pro 5G makes good use of that feature.
Even with the gloomy weather, the Spark 20 Pro 5G took decent shots, and the 3x digital zoom still produced a decent shot. The main camera can be used for general photography, with photos good enough for social media posting.
Beyond photography, the Spark 20 Pro 5G can shoot up to 2K video if you plan to use it for content creation. Shooting fast-paced footage? The Spark 20 Pro 5G has you covered with its support for 60FPS video recording at Full HD–a feature that’s nice to have for a phone priced at under Php 10k.
Great battery life. While you get the usual 5000mAh cell, the Spark has good battery life. We recorded 13 hours and 44 minutes on PCMark’s battery life test, and it shows that TECNO has properly optimized the Dimensity 6080 to offer a good balance between performance and efficiency. Charging the battery is relatively fast with its support for 33w charging, and it takes around 1.5 hours to fully charge the battery.
The Spark 20 Pro 5G is priced at Php 9,999 and is available in all eCommerce platforms.
